BILL HUGHES
PGA TOUR
Hughes, a Masters PGA professional who began his career 34 years ago, leads the TPC Network’s diversity initiatives, including recruiting planning and cultural enhancements as Regional Director TPC Operations for the PGA TOUR. He has been a club professional and general manager for four TPC courses, covering more than two decades, and most recently, for the TPC Sawgrass where he served as General Manager from 2006 to 2017.
Hughes has been recognized by the PGA of America with several awards including: “Junior Golf Leadership,” and “Golf Professional of the Year” on more than one occasion. He was also the first recipient of the annual American Junior Golf Association “General Manager of the Year” Award in 2013. In 2015 The PGA of America and its 28,000 members and apprentices recognized Mr. Hughes with the National “Bill Strausbaugh Award” for his passion for mentoring aspiring PGA Professionals and his work with the many non-profit organizations he serves in his community and throughout the United States.
In 2015, Bill Hughes was conferred with an honorary Doctorate Degree from Flagler College for his support of the college, the many non-profits he serves and his leadership in St. Johns County where he resides.
Mr. Hughes has been a longtime supporter of JDRF, raising $75,000 in recent years to help advance type 1 diabetes research through his personal involvement with the JDRF One Walk program. He has been awarded top individual fundraiser with the Walk program for the past four years, served as Corporate Chairman for the Jacksonville JDRF Walk, served seven years as a board member with the local chapter, and educates and advocates for the JDRF mission with a heart as big as the moon and leaves a lasting impact on everyone he comes into contact with.
Now, Mr. Hughes is contributing his time and talent to help in our efforts to improve lives and cure type 1 diabetes by serving as honoree for the 2018 JDRF Miracles Gala, where it is our honor to present him with the Living and Giving award.
